2008-02-11 The December issue of the bulletin ‘Together’

Several major themes have found their place in the December issue of the bulletin of the Sofia Municipality Center For Addictions ‘Together’.

A National Meeting on the problems of preventing narcotic substances use took place on 4 and 5 December 2007 in the city of Plovdiv. Further information about this event can be found in the article ‘National meeting on the problems of preventing psychoactive substances abuse’.

An interesting standpoint of compulsory treatment is presented in the article ‘Humanism through compulsion – a paradox of medical services’.

The focus of the publication ‘Use of narcotics and related problems among youngest people (aged under 15)’ is placed on one of the Selected themes from the Annual Report for 2007 of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA).

Further information about parents’ role in preventive activities and treatment of addictions can be obtained from the article ‘The role of parents in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of addictions’.

One can learn what new psychoactive substances are registered on the drugs market in Bulgaria in the article entitled ‘New psychoactive substances on the illegal market. Piperazaines’.

The second of the Selected themes from the Annual Report for 2007 of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) is described in the article ‘Drugs and driving’. The way Bulgaria deals with this important problem is the focus of the publication ‘Driving motor transport vehicles under the influence of psychoactive substances is dangerous’.

A Center for information, consultations and guidance for treatment was opened at the National Center for Addictions. Its purpose is the exchange of information on issue related to the use of psychoactive substances, consultations and direction of addicts to appropriate treatment centers.
